No change after surgery

I am a week after surgery.

I know it's to soon to make any conclusions on whether the surgery was sucsessful or not but...

As far as i can work out from reading people's stories, most people experience diffrent king of pain after surgery.

Pain is smaller and usually only in the lower back and gone from the leg.

In my case pain is present in both leg and lower back, moreover its exectly the same as it was before.

I am horrified. What do you think? Am I beeing to dramatic and over exaggerating?

Oh no please don't despair.  I felt exactly like you last week; had the same pains as before surgery and even worse.  Pain in my buttock, down my left and in my foot.  I've written on this board and someone explained to me why the pain remains after surgery.  But, what a change this week.  What kind of surgery did you have?  Mine was L4-L5 fusion with quite a bit of hardware put in.

You will find comments on this board very helpful.  You will have ups and downs; and pretty soon you will find that the down days will appear further apart.  My surgery was done Sept. 29th.  We are still early in recovery.  Let's be patient!  Take care my dear.

Hope my message is clear; English is my second language.  I am French Canadian.

    hi malczo

    Welcome to Veritas Health Forum

you are just a week after surgery and you pain will reduce as your recovery increases.

just follow your medical teams's instructions and remember to walk little and often, to start with and increase as you feel able.

it also depends on how long your nerve was trapped.  nerves do not heal overnight, they take time so please be patient as daisypiouk has confirmed.

my motto for recovery is 'walk, rest & play'.  this gives you short walks to stop you stiffening up, rest for the healing and play for healing the mind and stop you overdoing things while things heal.

i have added two links below to help new members with information and these also contain the forum rules.  there is lots of material to research that will give you the power of knowledge.
