Hi all. I’m 6 weeks post op a L5/S1 discectomy. The first couple weeks post op were pretty rough with no relief of my leg pain but then I had a solid week where I had improved greatly and then ended up going way back downhill again with pre op pain levels and new numbness. My surgeon thinks I’ve reherniated so we tried a steroid injection yesterday and I’m feeling pretty good (still have pain but pretty mild and tolerable for the most part). I’m just wondering how successful everyone has been with steroid injections with or without surgery, pre op, post op- anytime really! Did they work at all? Not one bit? If they worked, how long did they last?
Just wondering if this is too good to be true how much better I’m feeling currently and if there’s a chance of it giving me somewhat permanent relief to help me avoid a second surgery.
Thanks in advance!
