Hip Labral tear and Arthroscopy

Hi there,

I have been diagnosticated with a labral tear to my left hip and an impingement in my right hip. It's causing me a lot of pain (including a lot of lower back pain) and I was wondering if anyone ever had lower back pain caused by a hip labral tear here.

Also, if anyone had a hip arthroscopy I'd love to chat about it to know what to expect. The surgeon said that my case is urgent and he puts me on a priority list today so I might get the surgery anytime in the next week or two. However, I am also preparing for my final examinations so I am wondering if it's very invasive and how much of a distaction from exams this will be.

Specifically, I am wondering the following

Based on your experiences, and opinions, how long do you think I'll need to be functional.

What are the chances that it helps with the back pain ?

How was your experience and where did you get the surgery done ?

Please let me know.

Is your doctor talking about a complete hip replacement with a new ball/socket and titanium implants?

In my experience hip pain can create lower back pain.. Curious, why did your doctor say this is  urgent?

A hip labral tear is sometime people can live with for  years without any surgery   So it almost seems there is more behind this situation

Just curious... How did they diagnose the tear? A regular MRI of the hip or an MR arthrogram?

    Do you get groin pain?

Did you experience a sudden injury that caused the tear?

I would want to see a neurosurgeon for that L1-L2 herniation. I also have an L1-L2 herniated disc and they ruled out my hip being the problem.

My symptoms are very similar to yours.
