ACDF - don't do it before looking into ADR

I have had ACDF fusions C3-C7...constant stiffness and moderate pain is still going on 2 years later.   I now read about ADR(ARtificial Disc Replacement) which seems to allow for way more mobility.  Wish I had know about this before as likely would have resulted in more more movement and less pain.  Hope this helps some thinking of doing ACDF (anterior cervical disc fusion)

  • I asked my neurosurgeon about the disc replacements and he said I would develop more bone spurs around the levels w/ the replacement discs and would right back to square 1.

If I were you, I would get another opinion. Bone spurs do not always form, everyone is different.
