neuromonitoring ?

Hello ! -  I'm just wondering ...do any of you know if it is customary (or not customary) to use "neuromonitoring" during an ACDF surgery ? ? I'm having surgery next week, and just found out that my neurosurgeon doesnt use it -  as if i need something else to be nervous about !  :)   Any info would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

This monitoring enables the surgeon to keep his instruments he uses during surgery away from the nerves. Now days, most surgeons use all of the advantages out there to make their job easier and better.  He may not be trained on how to use it or just prefers not to. You can always ask, the more you know the better for you.

Good luck on your surgery, keep us posted.
