New Arm Symptom

Howdy all,

I have never posted, but have replied to a lot of questions regarding lumbar issues nd fusion. I had my 8 week fusion checkup yesterday and am doing fine.

What I am writing about tonight is a familiar sensation in my right arm from about mid bicept to the tips of my fingers -- you all know the one where your arm is totally asleep and tingly

I have had zero neck pain, and no loss of strength. This has been going on for about 8 months now, but I though it was the way I was sleeping due to the lumbar fusion and nothing possibly related to disks, etc. I'm almost positive it is not stress related or muscular in nature as I am still on my muscle relaxers and pain meds.

I am able to move my neck (slide it bac or forth, left or right) and replicate the sensation when I slide it back... Does this sound like a new location of DDD to anyone?

I am going to get a referral from my surgeon on Monday, but after a recent fusion, I am not really looking forward to a possible similar conversation regarding my neck.

Thanks much for the time,

  • Anytime you see a new symptom it's time to talk to the doc, no matter how trivial it may seem. It's just better to be cautious than to let things go until it's too late. Since you can move your neck and duplicate the sensation I'd say you need to get in there asap.

Please let us know how you're doing. Just remember that every symptom doesn't equal surgery. I know it's hard to even think about after going through it so soon but you have to take care of yourself!

    All the best to you,
