Hi all, just a general hello; I'm a newbie and I'm sure I'll be posting here, and certainly I'll be reading a lot here...I have spondylolisthesis grade 2 at L5-S1 and have been ok'd for fusion surgery, interbody anterior/posterior- currently taking Cymbalta/Lyrica combo: seems to be working fairly well...can anyone recommend the type of doctor I should be utilizing with this particular surgery? I'm looking for a good, experienced surgeon in the Albuquerque NM area...any help you guys can give will be GREATLY appreciated...

  • Hello Aaron, welcome to SH. You have found a great site full of information and supporting, caring people. I am recovering from fusion L4-5 for Spondy. I have a NS, I felt more comfortable since they do more with nerves. Look at the OS vs. NS sticky near the top. Whichever you go with make sure they are a Spine specialist and have done numerous fusions already. Fusion surgery is definitely major and takes a very long time to recover from. Have you tried any conservative treatments, injections, etc? Good-luck in your decision. Many people get more than one opinion. Take care, Cali-Sue

  • come post in out surgery club. u will have so much support over there, reading previous recovery yjreads helps too. type in "recovery thread" or "upcoming surgeries" in the search and u will find all of our recent threads!! hope to see u there!!
  • I know that you will find so much support and information from this site. I know that I have, and everyone here is so wonderful. I don't live in your area, but the most I can say is that I went with a neurosurgeon as my choice, as he was recommended by several of my friends who had gone to him also. Best of luck to you in this journey.
