I've been having intense "twinges" in my lower back/tailbone area today. I am hoping it is just the fact I've been increasomg my walking speed outside and sitting in new chairs, etc. It does seem to go away, but it has me thinking about what the possible signs are of reherniation. My physical therapist said you feel a "pop" in your back. The NS nurse said to call if the pain was a 10 and wouldn't go away. Are there any other signs we, post-microdisectomy people, should look out for?
The therapist also noted that the majority of people she sees who have reherniated, it has happened usually within the first two or three hours after waking up. I thought that was interesting. Thus she said avoid lifting, especially first thing in the morning. She also told me the rule of "opposites" is true, where since I herniated on the right side last time, I should be extra careful about lifting or pulling on the left side now.
Any other tips?
