I am only 2 weeks post op of PLIF with hardwear and decompression with correction to scoliosis. I am 24 and one of the main reasons I decided to have this surgery done is my husband and I are ready to have a family and the pain my back was causing me there was no way I could carry a child and put the strain on my back.
My question is does anyone have any inside on if having back surgery can affect your chances of getting pregnant or how your pregnancy will be?I will greatly appreciate any help on this matter! I really can not wait to start a family and I want to be sure this has not ruined any chance of that.

  • at your follow up.

I would also wait until you have news that your fusion has fused as the extra laxity and weight will not help your recovery.

They may suggest a time period to wait - like at least 12 months - or suggestion a ceasarian delivery.

    Good lUck

  • I WANNA say there is someone on this board who had back surgery and is now pregnant. Maybe they will read this post and get back to you. I honestly have no idea when it comes to post op. I think my back issues may have been related to my pregnancy. I was 16 when I had my son, and he was 10 lbs 9 oz (No, I didn't have him vaginally. Lol. Scheduled c-section) So it was a lot to carry around.
