Hi,

So glad to find this site. I haven't been able to find much online about thoracic fractures. September 7, 2008 I suffered T5 and T8 fracture when I was injured in a freaky accident. While stopping to help at an accident, a car hit the vehicle I was helping, pinning me between the two. I also suffered several other injuries including a Tibial Plateau Fracture that kept me from weight bearing for 3 months. Because of that I also have low back pain from loosing so much muscle tone, so I am currently doing therapy for that.

But, my neurosurgeon says there is really anything to do for my thoracic fractures, that they will just take time to heal. I feel like there is a fist in the middle of my back. It isn't constant, thank goodness. Mostly when I do a lot of desk work and when in bed. I have found that Flexeril really helps me at night. But, it knocks me out, so during the day I just have to rely on rest and heat to relieve the pain. Any advice or stories would be greatly appreciated.

I fractured C7, T3, T4, T5 endplate fractures all except C7. They stuck me in a Minerva brace and said, you'll heal.
I still get that fist in the back from activity. 2.5 years later. You will heal, it just takes time. Way more than we want. I must admit flexeril did next to nothing to me. I take Hydrocodone and it only seems to work at all in large doses now. My main problem is shoulder pain, so I will say with any luck you won't go through what I have been!
Welcome aboard. Lots of good people here!
