Hi everyone, Ive been struggling with a herniated L5-S1 disc for over a year now, it doesn't seem to be getting better and now my lower back feels 'loose' example is if I sit for even 10+ mins then stand up and flex my abdominal muscles it feels like the lower 3-4 discs are repositioning, they pop/crackle back into place, my PM doc doesnt know what it could be, but I suspect I may be getting Degerative disc disease, I have alot of the symptoms, ex: bad lumbar pain also burning pain while sitting/cannot sit still/cannot sit/stand/walk for over 2 hrs untell im in too much pain and need to laydown on my back to releive the pain/builtup tension.

I'm in the proccess of finding a good spine doctor, but I wanted to post this just to see what you guys might think, any words of wisdom is greatly appriciated thanks.

  • I have the same symptoms. Have you had an epidural yet? I'm going for another one today and it will be my 7th one in over 2 years. I also get facet joint injections. I notice the grinding shifting isn't as bad now. I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day to rehydrate. Have you had another MRI since your lumbar MRI over a year ago? I hope your new Neurosurgeon or Ortho Surgeon can help you. Take care. Charry

  • gwennie, you guessed it, I just got off the phone with a very informative retired doc thats also a family friend and he said I most likely have spondylolisthesis, I've never heard of this till now is spondylolisthesis fairly common? I'm like 95% sure I got this from physical therapy and doing stomach pressups,knees-to-chest exercises.

I haven't had a flexion x-ray either yet, I just got reccomended to the only neurosurgon on the island and hes supposed to be really good so im stoked about that.

hmm, I just read that spondylolisthesis causes pain in legs/feet.

My legs/feet have been broken numerous times so they dont feel quite right lol but I cant tell if the possible spondylolisthesis is adding to any leg pain, and I don't have sciatica anymore, just weakness of my right leg which is only noticeable in physical therapy tests.
