I am new here. I had a 2 level fusion (L3-L5) and a laminectomy in November 2009. Prior to the surgery my sciatic pain was so bad I had to walk with a cane. For a few months I was really much better. Recently the sciatic pain has returned! It gets worse as the day goes on. I can't stand for any length of time. Waiting in line at the store is excruciating. Oddly walking isn't quite as painful.
I am going to have another MRI but the surgeon did tell me that if the sciatic pain returned and I had nothing wrong with me that showed up on the x-ray or MRI there is really not much they can do except for manage the symptoms. As a 38 year old I really can't imagine living out the rest of my life with this pain. I had all sorts of drugs prior to the surgery and none really helped. Plus the side effects were terrible.
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?
