TNF RA Med used for Sciatica new research

DDDBACKDDDDBACK Posts: 57
i found this article and i thought it was interesting for people with spine problems. i was started on sulfasalazine for my auto-immune problem.
i soon found out it helped my sciatica pain.
so i did some research and found tnf's have worked to help sciatica pain. i know sulfa isn't a tnf but a dmard. however, i think researchers are on to something.

below is a link. i asked my rheumy and pm if a tnf drug would help me. they both said yes but you would never get insurance to help pay under that classification.

regardless, if the pro's think it helps it will only be a matter of time before us spine people have another option.

  • They give this Remicade IV where I work. I think I'll get an appointment with the Rheumatologist there. Maybe not for the transfusion but for a consult anyways. I think it's used for RA and it's covered by our health plan. I know they were doing blind studies where I work it sounds promising. Charry
