My surgery(discectomy and laminectomy) is one week from today. I am not sure what's worse right now - all the things I won't be able to do while recovering, or all the things I am having trouble getting accomplished now. Certainly not enough hours in the day.

  • Just wanna wish you good luck with your surgery.

I like the way you explained about whats worse.
Kinda like damned if you do, and damned if you dont.
  • It's good that you're getting most of what you want done before your surgery because it helps to keep you from being totally stressed out.

Hoping your surgery goes well and looking forward to hearing more once you're home and able to post.

  • especially with discectomy. Remember there is no hardware to stabilze it. It's all you and your core. That disc is in a very fragile state post-op. A lot of failures are due to people pushing too soon after. If you take care of it, and you're lucky, it might be the only surgery you need. Or at least stave off fusion that much longer. You don't want fusion if you can avoid it. So take it easy.

  • Well, between time issues and pain issues stopping me. To top it off, I'm working through Saturday.

There are so many "what ifs" with the procedure but I do know that I can't continue on like this anymore. It won't be miracle inducing - that's pretty much a given, but some significant improvement would indeed be nice. *crossing fingers*
