What we mean to each other

Ever stop for a minute or two to think about just what another member on this site means to you?

I joined about 5 years ago looking for some answers regarding my Thoracic problems. In a short time, I realized that there was so much more to this site. Yes, I picked up many answers in the medical section, but it was the forum side and its members that made such a difference.

It was amazing to find out just how many other folks have similar medical problems and deal with similar circumstances.

It was as if I had tapped into a resource where so many others knew what I was talking about and I didn't feel different.

Today, I still have not met any other member face to face. I did meet several of the site employees a couple of years ago when I was visiting Chicago. But for not knowing someone face to face, I have become very close to many here.

I trust them, I depend on them, I can laugh with them, cry with them, share some of my deeper feelings, etc. I dont worry about what the other member might think about what I said or what I did. We are basically all in this together.

To me, in so many ways, Spine-Health is the largest support group in existence. We cover all countries, races, religions, etc. No one is thought of any different here.

Do we have fights at times? Sure, Honestly, considering all that we go through on a daily basis, I feel that the overall 'temperature' reading of the member community here is pretty even.

I am so very grateful to have had the opportunity to meet so many different people. I've learned so much from them.
And I know that will always continue.

  • I think being a part of the family here is due to a mutual suffering, an understanding of the onerous burden fate has tasked us to carry and a undying, unquenchable thirst to understand and surpass the suffering.

The mutual respect and courage here is unknown anywhere else..or at least in my humble opinion.

I cant wait to see what the future holds for Spine-Health, and what it holds for the nation we are.

    a brother/sister team.

  • Ron I think just about everyone would agree that you are the reason that this site has been so successful for so long. You guide the threads with a firm hand that keeps things fair and balanced. Of course not everyone agrees at all times but there has to be a daddy in every house or the kids will run wild.

Now I do have one issue...would you stop feeling that you have to experience every condition/surgery first hand!!! lol Whenever I feel down about my situation I just pop in and read about your latest adventure. I think it is this "experience" that makes you so knowledgeable both in fact and in spirit.
