Hello everyone. I am posting this hoping someone can help me. My frustration level is maxed out! I injured my back at work 6 weeks ago. Ever since then I am in severe pain with numbness in my legs. I had a "normal" MRI and my dr has now referred me to an orthopaedic specialist which I cant even see for another 3 weeks. In addition I continue to go without compensation from BWC and they said it could be another 3 to 4 weeks!! How can I be in this much pain if everything on MRI looks "normal"???? PT and medicines are not working and I am seriously starting to get really down! Any advice or have others gone through this???? Hope I dont appear to be whining but I am so overwhelmed! Thank u so much!

  • My MRI can back with basically nothing as well. I am also in a lot of pain. No Doctor I have seen is really taking me seriously. So I completely understand!! PT and medications made me worse when Doctors told me to try that first. Maybe you can get on the cancellation list to try and get seen earlier. Keep us updated! Good Luck!

Lol.....I currently take 3 medications with no relief.....how about you?

I pray they can help you to get good sleep!!! It is sometimes so nice to know that you are not alone. Cause my family does not understand the pain. So I am grateful that others understand. But I don`t like to hear that others are suffering at the same time!

  • G'day,
I would highly recommend that you DO NOT see an orthopaedic specialist. I have heard of very few good results from people who see them. A neurosurgeon is definitely the way to go in my opinion and experience. If there is nothing much showing up on the MRI, it would seem that there is an nerve issue and I didn't want an ortho dealing with a neurological problem. I had surgery on herniated L5-S1 disk and ended up with severe nerve scaring and have recently had a Spinal Cord Stimulator implant which has reduced my pain from 7-8/10 to 3-4/10 after 3 weeks. In the mean time, if you can find a hydrotherapy pool (a proper hydro pool where the temp is 34ºC or 93ºF) it may provide some relief as it's warm and makes you weightless. I wish you the best of luck. I've been dealing with my chronic lower back pain for almost 3 years and hope your issue is solver quickly.
