I am 6.5 weeks post op a 2 level TLIF and laminectomy....After surgery, the pain before surgey was gone and had some numbness in my foot and felt like it was bandaged, but its not. I had my 6 week post op appt Tuesday and he said everything looked good, said I could drive again as tolerated and of course not on meds...fast forward so I have been taking some shirt trips and of course trying to get ready for the holiday (with help of course, no blt's) well yesterday I was in a lot of pain, the lower back pain I was experiencing pre surgery and now my right leg is sore and experiencing some saitic pain.GRRRRRRRRRR. I have grounded myself for last 2 days from driving, doing stairs.....all I have done is rest and walk and take pain meds which has helped a bit, but not as much as I thought.

I'm frustrated and of course scared that I hurt myself. I dont have the most supportive partner, when i tell him I'm in pain I get the look like how long you gonna use this..which doesnt help, but thats besides the point.

Has anyone else had this expereince with old symptoms popping back up, have they gone away or do they persist?

  • It appears that you have probably over exerted yourself. This isn't anything out of the norm. If I do something, I always pay for it the next day. it's all part of the healing process. There will be ups and downs throughout your journey.... In a few days, you should be feeling better.... If your body tells you differently and something "aint right," go get checked out.
Realize that FEAR is our worst enemy. Get up & get out in that stormy weather of the real world & kick fear in the teeth. Stare at it dead in the eyes & walk right through it into the storm; because once you're wet, you won’t fear the rain anymore
