    Wow...that's too bad you need two doctors for the separate issues.

    Pain management doctors have their own system. I am most familiar with having to sign contract that I would only receive pain meds from him.
    Since you need to see another doctor for shoulder issue......very good question for your PM doctor for how to handle it.

    I would be very interested in how your PM doctor chooses to resolve your need for another doctor.

    The PC that I went to for Chronic pain would not treat anything that was acute pain or that was not listed on the order from the GP. Then he changed his mind once he could not do steroid into my lower back anymore. I had brought up the pain in my upper back at the first visit but he made it clear "I won't be doing anything but your lower back". What was funny is he all of the sudden changed his mind and had scheduled me for my upper back.
    That and many other reasons he is not my Doctor anymore.
    Hope you get this resolved and don't have to see another Doctor, but since he said that I cannot see any reason it would be a problem to see another Doctor for your shoulder.
