Hello I am having a ALIF procedure done on June 2nd of this year, I am currently 20 years old. Are there any pointers out there to help me out for post-op.

  • I had an ALIF on one level (L5-S1) almost four years ago at the age of 40. Your best bet is to very carefully follow your own doctors instructions. That being said, I found it very helpful for my own recovery to have a bed rail installed on my bed. It was maybe 50 bucks off of amazon. It slides in between the mattress and box spring and gives you that bit of help you might need to get yourself out of bed. I used it for several months actually. Also plan to have some help at home at first. I cant imagine how I would have done without my mom and my kids helping me. The hospital gave me a walker, which I used for a while too. Anything specific you have a question about? "Recovery" is a big topic. I also think this web site has a big "sticky" topic on that issue. But Id be gald to tell you what I did if you have a more specific question...
