L5S1 TLIF REcovery

I had fusion of L5-S1 (PLIF) 10 weeks ago. Have been working off and on since about the 4th week, but the past few days for the first time since surgery I have horrible pain in both legs and can barely get out of bed. I had leg/glute pain pre-surgery, but concerned of this new symptom.
  • I had TLIF L5-S1 for spondylolisthesis too, on 12/10/15. Every time I have called to check a new symptom of pain, I'm asked if I fell. As long as my answer is no I have not fallen, the clinical reply is "you're fine". My sciatica for example has been much worse at times post-op than it ever was pre-op. The explanation I got for this is that there is soft tissue inflammation secondary to the surgery itself that can press on the nerve, but that it will subside. I don't know if that helps. I'm having an awfully hard time getting through this recovery period myself. It's a bumpy road.

  • 4 months postop. No more leg issues.
But back pain around l5s1 still there, muscles around here always tighten up whenever I am up and moving around. Lying to the sides is the best position.
