Spondylolisthesis (L5 over S1 verebra)

This is the case of L5 over S1 Spondylolisthesis. Its the case of my father.
From last ten days (ie. from 25th September 2016) he is feeling lower back pain.

After consulting doctor we came to know that it is a problem of spondylolisthesis.

Let me tell the history of the pain.
Before 3 month ie. in Jun 2016 he lifted a heavy drum of wheat and felt the pain for the first time. But after some pain reliever oil based massage he was ok.
But from last 10 days he is feeling the same pain in lower back. According to the doctor, he has this problem by birth, but we would like to get 2nd opinion.

One more thing is that before 3 years he has got his patella fractured, which by k wired later. From last 10 days he is also feeling the pain in the knee which was operated.

Although both of the pain are not on emergency level, but effecting through the daily routine life.
Please suggest me for following questions,
1. What is the treatment we should adopt for L5 over S1 spondylolisthesis?
2. Is there any connection between his spine and knee?

Curious if the doctor told you why it took so many years for pain to surface if he's had the condition since birth? Does he have an anterior or posterior pelvic tilt?

If it makes any sense about the knee pain in believing that since the bones are all connected directly or indirectly it's not out of the question that the pains are also connected.
