Is osteochondrosis part of DDD process?

Hi,

My last MRI (1 year ago) interpretation shows significant osteochondrosis L5-S1 where I had surgery 15 years ago (discectomy).
Because I am experiencing pain recently after walking, prolong sitting and so on, I am trying to understand what happening.
Generally this term of significant osteochondrosis can be considered a DDD in progress?
Unfortunately I am working away from my country in a remote location so I cannot see a doctor soon.
For the moment situations looks bearable from pain point of view and I just want to be able to slow the process before seeing a doctor again.
I am trying to improve my posture on office chair, to walk 2-3 Km at lunch brake, going for swimming and so on.
Any advice?

Thanks,
