No PM docs on Obamacare next year in TX. Just HMO plans. Not sure what I will do.

Hey Jim - Either they have some PM docs or they will have to pay (with referral from PCP) an out of plan provider. You may be able to have your current PM doc write a document outlining your medication needs to your PCP and he/she will write the RX's. Where did you get the information on this rather sweeping statement?

Healthcare.gov has specialties listed like pain mgmt. If I check pain mgmt, no insurance plans are listed. North TX will just have HMOs as an option in 2017. The PPOs have all left the state. (I put all of them in the poor house)

Healthcare.gov is open for 2017 business. Kind of. I can look at the plans available to me. (North Texas). All the PPOs have left the state/ At least North Texas. Blue Cross left a few years ago. UHC left last year. Scott and White Baylor are leaving in January. The only options left are HMOs. The website also has specialties listed like pain mgmt and if I check the pain mgmt box, it lists no insurance plans for that. I have no had an HMO since the 80's and back then, they were pretty worthless. The GP always blocked me from seeing a specialist. Next year should be interesting for me being a professional spiney.
  • Why don't you just call your plan and talk to someone to find out what is going on?

Everybody here knows exactly what's going on. The gov & big pharma have banded together with insurance companies to take us off what works. Make us try their inferior newer drugs that have fatal side effects so they can kill off a large portion of the population. Saves everybody a whole lot of $$$! Make sense? think big picture for a minute. they all benefit from taking us out...

I got lucky. I think. Signed up for obamacare yesterday. It was an HMO but there are a few pain docs listed in north texas. I will have a drive a little bit but that's ok.

Does no good to call my plan. Obamacare plans change each year as PPOs leave the state. BCBS, UHC, Scott and White Baylor in that order are gone. . Now, there are no PPOs at all. My premium dropped from $165 to $14 a month. I love that part. Now, how do I get past the gatekeeper to see the PM?
