7 wks post TLIF with new pain

I am 7 weeks post TLIF.  The pain I experienced pre-op was on my left with radiating nerve pain.  The radiating pain is gone so I consider that a success.  The pain in my lower back has decreased significantly, however in the last week I have developed sharp/stabbing pain on my right side which is almost debilitating.  I cannot sit, stand or lay down for any length of time, at times coughing, laughing or moving my legs creates even more pain.  I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I am now having to take even more pain meds, and feel guilty for needing to ask for more.  I had been to a point where I was able to get in and out of bed with very little pain, however, now I can't even do a log roll without excruciating pain and getting to a standing position is very difficult.  Not sure if this is just a part of the healing process or if something has happened.

I was excited that I seemed to be making progress, however, now feel as though I have taken a few steps backwards.

Thanks for your feedback.

Have you called your doctor about this..??  He is the one who can give you the best answers and treatment if needed.   Everyone heals differently so it is hard to say what's normal.   Call your doctor... it's better to be safe than sorry for something like this. You've already invested a lot of time and energy to get this far... don't mess things up by hesitating to call/see your doctor.
